| Monarch Butterflies and the Heart of Mexico | |||||||
| All trips are cancelled until the situation in Mexico improves. Please check with us for future Monarch adventure trips. | |||||||
| Our hikes to the wintering roosting sites of millions of monarch butterflies are a once-in-a-life-time, magical experience. This is a rare opportunity to have a leading Monarch scientist, Dr. Bill Calvert as one of your personal guides. The trip's emphasis will be on the Monarch butterflies and exploring the natural history of the region; but the trip will also include many cultural, historical and culinary delights. We will visit several market places in historical villages, and observe Mexican people living in a rural area, grappling with the problems of making a living off of the land. We will visit people who live close to the butterflies, some of whom are not accustomed to tourists, and are trying hard to conserve the wintering sites of the Monarch butterflies from the effects of deforestation. We may also have a chance to visit a rural Mexican elementary school. | |||||||
